Broadband Users - Speed up Firefox

user Posted by admin | date bullet February 10th, 2008

This is not necessarily an affiliate marketing related topic. However, browser speed can make your life a lot easier when working online, especially for those of us specializing in affiliate sales and marketing and other online ventures.

Having tested and used several different browsers I can honestly say that my preference is Mozilla Firefox. Being a recent convert to Broadband, I must confess that I was somewhat disappointed in my new ‘high speed’ service. Being faster than dial-up, it was still quite slow, which was quite a disappointment.

However, I discovered that the slowness wasn’t altogether the fault of the broadband connection. Some of the problem was related to Firefox. Once I made the changes detailed below to my Firefox Browers, I was amazed at how much faster pages load.

Making Firefox faster is a relatively easy procedure. Just follow the instructions below and be prepared to be amazed!

HOW TO CONFIGURE AND SPEED UP YOUR FIREFOX BROWSER

1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Then scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests”
to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.

Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages MUCH faster now!

Exciting New Storefront Widget by Paypal

user Posted by admin | date bullet February 4th, 2008

Paypal has a new storefront widget, still in beta but fully operational, that enables you to create an online store complete with shopping cart via your own account on the Paypal site.

This is the link you will need to use to set up your own Paypal Storefront, as the Storefront Widget is still in Beta at Paypal Labs. You login with your current Paypal information.

This is a tremendous new service!

What this means is that customers can now purchase products directly from your website or blog. You no longer need to install a shopping cart on your website, or hire a programmer to create an online store for you.

You can also offer your customers the opportunity to purchase an online Gift Certificate or Discount Coupon using the Paypal Store feature.

You need to host your images elsewhere in order to have pictures show up in your listings. I recommend Image Cave as an excellent, basic image hosting service.

One of the things I really like about this storefront is how easy it is to customize. You can change colors and make other changes that will help the storefront blend in to the look of your current website. Another nice thing is that this little storefront looks very much like a mobile phone interface. I think it will have a lot of potential if you are targeting the .mobi crowd!

Note that that the storefront is viral via the ‘Help Sell These Products’ link, meaning someone else can sell your products on their website. (Why they would want to do this, I’m not sure, but it is an interesting concept that has great potential for enterprising online entreprenuers!)

Here’s the link to set up your own Paypal’s Storefronts!

Here’s what the storefront looks like in a blog post or website:

Set Up Your Own Paypal Storefront.

Take some time to click anything and everything that is clickable to see how versatile this widget really is. (Don’t overlook the little i in the top right-hand corner!)

When you click the ‘buy’ button, the item is added to your shopping cart. When you click the ‘Checkout’ link you are taken to your Paypal account login page. (Which means you can have fun clicking the links without having to worry about making an accidental purchase. Purchases can only be completed via your Paypal account.)

Please note that this storefront is still in beta and is available on the Paypal Labs site only. (PayPal Labs is PayPal’s showcase site which allows you to take Paypal’s experimental products for a spin.)

Build a Niche Store

user Posted by admin | date bullet February 1st, 2008

Did you know that one of the absolute best and easiest ways to earn affiliate commissions from eBay is build a website using the Build a Niche Store program?

No other affiliate opportunity combines the width of product inventory, such an established brand name and a high affiliate commission structure like eBay does.

eBay + BANS (Build a Niche Store) opens up a whole new world of opportunity for you.

Not only can you generate income from sales of other people’s products on eBay, the ‘Build a Niche Store’ storefront program allows you to generate additional income and leads from supplementary affiliate links and ads that you place on your BANS website.

But don’t just take my word for it.

Read the unbiased opinions, questions and reviews about this product on just one of the many Warrior Forum’s threads about BANS: (Note: You will need to login or become a member of the Internet Warrior’s Forum in order to view this thread.)

For more information on BANS, visit the official BANS Website.

NOTE: If you have domains sitting around, think of putting them to work for you via a BANS website. The four eBay marketplaces that BANS currently supports (United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia) hold a combined product inventory of over 60 million products.

These 60+ Million products cater to just about every imaginable niche – from fishing rods to antique Chinese vases, engagement rings to Ipods and it’s all these products which you can control and then market using the ‘Build A Niche Store’ program.

How to Earn Income from eBay’s Affiliate Program

user Posted by admin | date bullet January 30th, 2008

The eBay Affiliate program enables you to earn commission for every item sold on eBay - providing, of course, that the buyer has linked to eBay via your affiliate link. The eBay affiliate program offers some interesting alternatives for affiliate marketers and is worth serious consideration, especially if you are marketing or promoting high ticket items.

eBay’s affiliate program is run in the U.S. and UK by Commission Junction and in Germany by Affilinet. You must first become a member of either of these sites, and once accepted, you then apply to the eBay Affiliate program through a link on these sites.

By clicking on the affiliate link on the eBay site, you will be taken to a page with more information and a link to Commission Junction’s application form.

In order to be accepted as an Affiliate for eBay, you will need to provide details that include your website address, purpose of your site, your site content and so on. The application is then examined by eBay; your website is checked, and if everything meets their standards then you are approved.

Once you have been approved as an eBay Affiliate, you can use any of the affiliate tools eBay provides to create some interesting product and marketing campaigns for your website.

As with any affiliate program, when a potential buyer sees something of interest and clicks a link from your site, when they make a purchase your affiliate ID is credited with the sale and you earn the resulting commission.

As an example, I have set up a small ‘Product Review Site’ to enable customers to evalute DVD’s currently listed on eBay. When someone clicks a link from the little storefront shown below, and goes on to search and purchase any item (from any category on eBay) and completes the purchase, I earn the resulting commission.

The example below was created with the ‘Product Kit’ tool from the eBay ‘Tools’ page at: http://affiliates.ebay.com/ns/Tools.htm

The DVDs shown below are a very low ticket item product, but one that serves well as an example of the type of marketing links you are able to generate as an eBay affiliate. It goes without saying, the higher the purchase price on the items you promote - the higher your commission payment will be.

I like the eBay Affiliate program because you can create so many different types of links, RSS feeds and so much more. Because of eBay’s extensive category list, you have an unlimited number of products to choose from that tie in well with related content on just about any type of website.

You could build an entire Affiliate Sales empire by simply incorporating listings from eBay into your website.
